Nottingham promoters Caramello head down to London to make their debut at Phonox on the 23rd December with a huge statement. Headlining the event is the one and only Terry Francis supported by the renowned Mr Mendel.
Starting off and headlining proceedings is Terry Francis. Probably one of the UK’s most seasoned DJs who has had an illustrious career. After winning Muzik Magazine’s ‘Best New DJ’ award in 1997 his status has had a spectacular rise to fame. Not many DJs can boast a residency at one of the world’s most venerated clubbing institutions (fabric) for over 16 years, toured the world numerous times and have such a cross-generation appeal to the masses – Francis is also an established producer with a number of EPs to his name as well as his own label projects. Over the years critics have tried to pigeonhole his style but like many of the best DJs his mixes regularly blur the lines between the past and present, creating an organic style of play. Typically collaborating deep dubby house, celestial breaks and ethereal vocals, Francis will be sure to hit the spot on Christmas Eve.
Second up, but by no means less in capacity, is Mr Mendel. The Amsterdam DJ may not have as much as a following as Francis but where he lacks in exposure he certainly makes up in underground respect. Mendel’s roots began in hip-hop but quickly evolved into soul, disco and afro beats. Before long the sexy melodies, funk filled basslines, energetic drums, exotic percussion and euphoric vocals became Mendel’s USP, collecting fans from around the world. Selecting heartfelt, rhythmic tunes and with the catchphrase “as long as it’s good soulful music” Mr Mendel knows how to throw a Christmas party.
Tickets for the event have sold out, but there will be a limited amount on the door. Event link here.
